Château Gazin, nestled in the historic Pomerol region, traces its roots to the 12th century when the knights of Saint-Jean of Jerusalem, Rhodes, and Malta cultivated vineyards there. The estate, once a hamlet, is believed to sit on the site of the “Hospital of Pomeyrols,” a medieval refuge for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela. This legacy inspired the name of its second wine, “l’Hospitalet de Gazin,” honoring its storied past.
